We heard the expression " body-mind" as a not completely clear new age saying where some kind of belief is required. In the past, it was normal to look at a human being as two separated systems: the body (physical) system and emotional- psychological system. When someone suffers from a physical pain (symptom) muscle ache, headache, disease, he will turn to conventional medicine and the solution will be in the form of a pill, ointment, injection etc. but what do you do when the pain returns or worse- turns chronic? Or the known solution doesn't work anymore?

In the 21 century the western medicine begun talking about fascia (the connective tissue of the body). The fascia is all- body tissue, surrounds the bones, muscles fibers, internal organs and nervous fiber. Inside it all our life functions take place. One can look at this tissue as the inner space we live in. it is not a passive tissue, but the same tissue plays different parts: it creates stability, using the cologne molecule from which it is made. This molecule allows us to stand against gravity, gives us strength and creates inner pressure so we won't collapse.

The fascia allows us mobility due to the Elastin fiber. It allows the muscles to contract and produce movement. The fascia comprised layers with different depth, strength and thickness. The deepest and strongest Fascia called Dora, and it surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord. From here comes the direct connection between the fascia and the nervous system. There is direct communication between the Limbic system, our emotional brain, through nervous pulses and chemical processes that lead to tissue changes. Mental and emotional processes cause contractions and stiffness of the fascia, changes in it's PH level, the fluid balance, and levels of energy and liveliness. It may happen after injury, surgery, trauma, during constant stress or depression. When the mood is down, the physical state follows and vis versa.

The human body is complex and smart "machine". Information passes between all systems simultaneously, constantly and in every direction. The idea behind working with connective tissues in myofascial treatment, is that if the nerve is like  a river then the fascia is the banks of the river and the terrain. The fascia is responsible for the quality of its flow. You can treat this tissue to create better flow conditions for the blood system, transport of oxygen and metabolism. When the system is balanced and flowing the vitality level increases, we have more energy and we feel better. In the yoga tradition we call it prana, the energy of life flowing in the body, or Chi in the Chinese medicine. The nervous system receives signals to relax thus sleep quality changes, the digestive system affected for the better and so is the quality of thinking and emotional state.

Myofascial release may be accompanied by different sensations, both in physical and emotional level: heat/cold, chills, trembling, crying, sweating, lathing etc. We "take apart" something, we let our inner system to process the information it holds and activate the inner balancing system. Many people feel inner peace and calm after the treatment. The body allows us to release things we hold within and oppress. Sometimes it even happens without the brain being able to explain or put into words the experience. This is the closest experience to meditation and overall deep relaxation.

" Body and mind are two sides of the same coin, and so the results of working with the body reach into the emotional, behavioral, even spiritual life of the individual. For example when there is physical stress or wickness interpreted as emotional disorder, releasing the physical component allows the release of the whole system. This can be discovered with the raise of repressed memories, or more likely it will seem like an inner insight of  common behavioral patterns. when the physical limitation is solved, emotional reactions can also change"
